Your Success Is Very Personal
There must be something in the water, because everywhere I look I see people trying to conform to the standards of others and achieve things for the sake of achievement, yet at the same time they seem lacking in happiness and satisfaction and it makes me wonder...why?
I firmly believe that success is only applicable to actions which in turn make you HAPPY. Any accomplishment that drains you and makes you wonder why you bother, seems to be besides the point - Doesn't it?
Success is whatever achievements make you happy, after all can you think of a viable alternative? - Yet people of all walks of live across the globe appear to carry the weight of expectation placed upon them set by other people and it's creating an upside down, inexplicable type of madness.
It's Not Selfish To Want Your Own Successes
There is something very tangible about success, maybe that is because it brings rewards that have tangibility or maybe it's because of the feeling that winning brings, but one thing is for sure and that is as follows:
"The actions you take to increase your genuine happiness are in themselves inherently good and successful. By increasing your happiness in a just and moral way your happiness should be revered and respected by those you love and those who wish you any less have little respect for your personal happiness"
Great things have come from personal endeavors and there is nothing immodest from taking pride in the journey towards self fulfillment. Unfortunately some parents and guardians feel a level of ownerships and control over their children and unnecessarily push them to far and too hard towards their own wants and needs. This vicarious predicament occurs as authorities try to live the achievements of their loved ones by proxy, often because they feel they have lacked success themselves.
This is incredibly selfish - The happiness of your children is far more important than the reclaiming of lost dreams for one's self.
A Socially Accepted Abnormality
Maybe I'm confused, but if the point of life is not to be happy then I must be chasing the wrong path - Maybe chasing misery would be more fulfilling - ?????
It would seem the heaping successes upon one another is the ultimate accomplishment regardless if those particular successes come at the price of lost happiness, did we all lose our minds? Unless greater, increasing happiness comes from the result of accomplishment am I not right to assume that there would be no accomplishment of value at all?
It's unbelievable but true, many people reach their mid thirties and realize they have spent their formative career years chasing someone else's idea of a happy life, without ever taking the real time to understand completely what it is that makes them happy and know implicitly those things that bring them the most joy.
I believe it is no surprise that now, more than ever before we see a huge amount of mid-life turnarounds as people pursue successes that they believe will bring them happiness which in turn is an accomplishment in itself.
It's never to late to make a critical evaluation of your life and the path you are heading down. Remember that happiness is absolutely everything and any other path away from joy is an abnormality of reality.
May You Find Your Happiness
Many people wonder how hard it is to become a successful affiliate marketer. People will go to great lengths to find out the secret. In other words, what do they have to do to make it work. They search ezines and articles, etc... Unfortunately, the marketing industry is filled with lots of counterfactual and defective information. The industry is also diluted with scams claiming you can make a thousands over night with little or no effort. Let me be the first to tell you that its very possible to become successful as an affiliate marketer. And you have every chance to create success no matter the circumstances.
I'm going to talk to you about what you need to do in order to be successful at affiliate marketing. And its not as difficult as you think. Most times the answer is right in front of our eyes but we overlook it for whatever reason. Essentially there are 5 things to consider when trying to become successful at affiliate marketing.
1) THE PRODUCT -- Without a sellable product you will not produce cash flow. Its as simple as that. It doesn't matter how much traffic you can send to your product. If the traffic does not buy your product you don't make a sale. So essentially, when considering a product you must ask yourself this one question. Is this product something that will stand the test of time and will people always want it? Because you don't want a product that is just some fad but a product that you can sell for a long, long time and always make money. The product must be sellable, durable, and attractive.
2) SMART TRAFFIC -- Let me ask you a question...Would you sell a ski jacket in Miami Beach, Florida? Of course not. The same applies to selling your product. When trying to locate traffic to buy your product, you must make sure that the product is appealing to the traffic. So if your selling baby bibs, you might want to market to expectant mothers not to firemen. The moral of the story is to find traffic that will buy your product and then use the proper marketing techniques to convince them to buy your product.
3) AFFILIATE COMPANY -- When joining any affiliate company its very important to do your homework. There are many scams in the industry with claims of success. Unfortunately, a lot of these companies do not have your best interest at hand. When researching a company you want to look at a couple of things. Do they have a good product, do they have a good track record, do they offer good support, etc... Because trying to market to people can be difficult enough and the last thing you need is someone inhibiting your progress.
4) ADVERTISING METHODS -- Its very important not to rely on one advertising method when trying to sell your product. You ever hear the expression, "don't put all your eggs in one basket". Well you need to try alot of methods in order to generate sustained cash flow. Some of these methods include ezine ads, articles, blogs, postcards, pay per click, email, and banners. You might have much success with one of these methods but if you really want to generate massive cash flow then you must expand your advertising techniques.
5) MINDSET -- This is probably the most important because it all starts with you. In other words, we determine how our day will go based on our disposition and demeanor. You need to develop a mindset that you will succeed no matter what and never let a bad day keep you down. Additionally, you always want to keep your subconscious mind stimulated with success. For example, hang a picture of a mansion in your room and look at it every morning knowing that it will be yours someday. So essentially, when you can develop a positive mindset it will all come together for you.
In conclusion, affiliate marketing revolves around these 5 major points. This is not to say that other methods don't exist because they do. But these points represent key ideas to get you going in the right direction toward your financial independence in affiliate marketing. I can't stress the importance of getting involved with an affiliate company that has a proven track record, a great product, and customer service to help you along the way. Its also very important to have a product that's recession proof. Meaning rain or shine you will always make money.
When selling your home, it is extremely important to show your home at its potential. Here are a few simple things you can do to increase the attractiveness of your home to potential buyers while still keeping within a budget. Some of these items are do-it yourself projects and some require the help of a professional. Either way these changes will help you get top dollar for your home and also have a great return on investment.
In cost ascending order, here is what you can do to better present your home:
1) De-clutter, De-clutter, De-clutter - This is probably the most cost effective improvement you can choose to do. When it comes to showing your home, less is more. Remove religious items, family photos, gadgets and knickknacks. Keep in mind, you want the buyer to remember the home and not your collection of seashells.
2) Clean - I know you are busy, but grab the glass cleaner and the vacuum and get rid of those dust mites and smudgy windows.
3) Upgrade hardware - Are those handles on your kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors still from the 70's? Changing the hardware is a simple and cost effective way to give a new, modern look to an old cupboard door.
4) Upgrade light fixtures- Along the same lines as #3, change old, outdated light fixtures and electrical cover plates. These are cheap to replace yet make a huge difference in the appearance of a room. Don't forget to make sure to replace burnt out light bulbs as well.
5) Paint - Freshen up the interior of your home with a new coat of paint. Use a neutral colour to make the space appear larger than it is and also to allow the buyer to envision their own furniture in the space. Neutral colours are the best way to go as it allows the buyer to remember the space and not the bright orange wall colour you chose in the 80's.
6) Upgrade flooring - I know the old shag rug in the living room is a classic, but a potential buyer probably won't agree. If it's in your budget, replace it with simple, neutral broadloom or hardwood floors. If hardwood is way out of your budget, opt for laminate.
7) Kitchen Upgrades - We all know women make the final decision when buying a homeJ. We also know that one of the first rooms a woman looks at is the kitchen. If it's not in your budget to re-model the kitchen then consider replacing those old appliances with stainless steel. Stainless steel appliances are sleek and will give your home that modern touch.
8) Curb Appeal - Ok, so the interior of the home is looking spiffy, we can't forget about the exterior - after all the front yard is the first thing the buyer sees when they pull up to the home. Make a good impression and make the home more inviting. Grab that lawn mower and hedge trimmer and add a few flowers.
In today's market climate it is more important than ever to make your home more attractive to potential buyers. After all, you only get one chance at a first impression so why not make it a good one!
Feeling short of money? Make more and spend less!
You want to go where money is? Watch prison break first!
It's so much easier said than done to save money. Well, somebody has given lists such as cutting your coffee, less entertainment, less shopping (no, you are killing me)... That works for your money but not for your life, because you save for a better one.
To better manage your money, here comes some tips:
First, set your goal in short-term and long-term. There must be something you want in desperation, like a car, a macbook. You will figure out what to cut to have your dream come true. Yes, you are not really saving money here, but you find the ways.
Second, make a budget and prioritize your spending. Track your monthly expenses and calculate the average for your regular payments (Rent, Phone Bills, utilities, gas etc.). Shopping and entertainment may change from month to month, set a minimum. When you have a total spending plan for the next month, save all the surplus for investment or open a savings account.
Third and the smarter way, when you have to buy something, find a cheap one. Actually this is easy because you are online. DO NOT save your cable expense.
The Internet has changed our way of life: Users get greater access to information than ever before. It also offers many opportunities for saving money. As online shopping has become more and more popular, businesses have been pressured into not only maintaining an online presence, but also competing for a thriving global consumer base. Online deals and specials are powerful persuasion for potential customers, and are therefore used by many retailers. If you know where to look, you can find many ways to save money online, such as traditional coupons that you can print out and carry with you, and online coupons that use links or coupon codes to save you money.
There are two ways applying the discount for online stores: linked coupons and coupon codes . With a linked coupon, you simply click on the link, and it takes you to the online store via a special URL; then when you finish the shopping, your savings will be applied to your shopping cart automatically. A coupon code is a special code you will need to enter when you check out. Because online stores depend on online coupons and promotions to boost sales, these codes are very easy to find. There are many websites dedicated to listing current online coupons and coupon codes such as couponcabin.com , couponsmarter.com etc. Most of these sites offer a search feature to help you find exactly what you're looking for.
Lost jobs. Lost homes. Lost hope.
It's in the headlines, it's on the news, and it's in our day-to-day conversations with people we care about: family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and people within our spiritual circles. When you're out of work, where do you turn when it seems nobody can help you or those you love?
For Tracey and I, and the thousands of people who visit our website everyday, we turn to a power greater than ourselves and we use affirmative prayers.
But what are affirmative prayers? How do you use them? And do they work?
The 7 Great Affirmations for the Unemployed
The following is our suggestion of how to use our 7 Great Affirmations to overcome job loss. We use the term God to mean the higher power of your understanding. These seven affirmations are the ones we and thousands of others have used to overcome unemployment and the negative emotions surrounding it.
1. Change Your Focus Give praise. Take your mind off your life's challenges and shift your focus toward good thoughts and attaining a new job.
Affirmation: I love you God and welcome you into my heart. Thank you for blessing me with a new job. Tip: For many of your affirmations, affirm as though you have already been blessed with what you are asking for.
2. Put Yourself in a State of Gratitude Take a moment and reflect on all the good things in your life and give thanks. Change your thinking from lack to thanks.
Affirmation: Thank you God, you give me power, comfort and strength while I find a new job. Tip: Affirmations without taking action are just wishes. Take steps forward every day to find a new job and give thanks for everything during the day. There is nothing too small to give thanks for. For example, thank God for the beautiful day, a smile, a kind word, not to mention your health, family, etc.
3. Connect with Your Higher Power -- From Whom all Blessings Flow Feel God's presence and know that God is within you right now, and that you are connected with God.
Affirmation: God, you are within me right now and you are helping me through my job search and helping me find the perfect job for me. Tip: When using affirmations, don't beg. Instead, talk as though you are talking with your best friend. Talk and affirm positively, and know that you are loved.
4. It's Okay to Ask to Be Blessed with a New Job God wants the very best for you . . . "whatever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive".
Affirmation: I am being led on the right path for me today for finding a new job, leaving all the details to God…I am blessed. Tip: Some people believe for some reason they don't deserve blessings -- throw this idea out once and for all! You are a good person. You are loved. You deserve to be blessed, so ask to be blessed in prayer, believe you'll be blessed, and you will receive blessings!
5. Be on the Lookout for "Messengers" and Blessings Be alert to messengers and events that have been sent your way to help you receive the blessings you desire, which includes helping you through the entire process of your re-employment.
Affirmation: God, because I see you everywhere, I easily recognize it when you are reaching out to bless me. I take continuous action and leave no stone unturned. Tip: Set a goal. Have a clear picture of the job you want. Put your re-employment goals in writing. There are studies that report that those who put their goals in writing achieve dramatically better results than those who don't. So write down your re-employment affirmations in a journal along with your re-employment goals, and then take ACTION!
6. Bless and Love Others "Love your neighbor as you would love yourself". When you are out of a job it's easy to feel very alone and isolated in your negative situation. Again, it's crucial that you maintain a positive mental attitude, and an easy way to do this is to say short, loving affirmations, blessing others.
Affirmation: I love and bless my family and friends. I love and bless all those who are in need of love, comfort and strength. Tip: Decide to live in the now. Don't fret about the past, don't worry about the future. Don't go through your re-employment alone. Connect with family, friends, people you've worked with in the past, community services and your spiritual circle.
7. Use Your Talents Whatever you put into the universe will come back to you ten-fold. You have special gifts. Reflect on these gifts and how they can help others. Be open to a completely different career; maybe a move to a new location. With every adversity there is the seed of an equal or greater benefit.
Affirmation: God, work through me now and help me do your good works. The more I help others, and do your good work, the more blessings I attract into my life. Tip: While looking for a new job, stay active. Volunteer. Help others. It's the right thing to do and your volunteer work may very well connect you to a person or event that will help you become re-employed.
Do you want to make money with adsense? Well, first of all you'll need to sign up as a publisher so Google can send you your earnings every month. Once you are approved as a publisher you will be able to monetize your sites with adsense providing they comply with Google's terms of service.
Here are 5 steps you can follow to make money with adsense:
1) Choose A High Paying Niche - What I recommend you do here is choose a niche that has an upper range above a dollar and a lower range no lower than 50 cents. This is the amount the advertisers pay and you will be receiving a percentage of the revenue that Google charges.
2) Do Keyword Research - You will then need to do keyword research and pick out a number of keywords to build pages around for this site. You want your site pages to be well themed, so take care to choose keywords that are both relevant and don't have so much competition that you have no chance of ranking for them in the search engines.
3) Build Your Site - You can either choose a site building tool or use a html editor to do this. You will also need a template so you can populate the site with content and include menu navigation on a side panel.
4) Promote Your Site - I recommend you use a mixture of directory submissions, article marketing, bookmarking and getting links from sites in your niche. At this stage don't monetize your site with Adsense. Hold off until the site is indexed and getting traffic from the search engines and your other promotion efforts.
5) Optionally Flip Your Site - This is where you can take things to the next level. Once your site is matured and steadily earning, consider selling your site and using that cash to fund making more sites. You will make more money from 5 sites than you will from one, so if cashflow is an issue consider this step to ramp up your earnings over the long term.
Remember how your relationship was in the very beginning?
You stayed up all night talking about everything - your dreams and desires and even the things that scare or embarrass you. But then, as the relationship went a long, you stopped talking about so much. Everything became so heavy and meaningful.
In the beginning, things were great. There was a level of trust and open communication that created intimacy and understanding. So, what happened to that? Where did it go and how can you get it back?
I used to try to protect my partner from those heavy, bad moods and ugly thoughts. I went to my room and hung out until I felt like socializing again.
I thought I was noble in my ability to control what came out of my mouth.
I thought I was kind because I never let on what I was thinking.
But what I was doing was ruining my relationships. There was no relationship. I was cutting myself off from others and never allowing them to know me. They never knew what I was thinking or feeling or needing.
I was an island. A very lonely island.
I really thought that if I let people know the ugly thoughts, not only would they be hurt - but they would probably become angry and disown me - betray me, talk shit behind my back. I would be the outcast.
So I beat them to the punch! Hah! I'd banish myself to my own room (or apartment, as I got older). I'd banish myself to silence.
You can either have a N.I.C.E. (Not Interested in Connecting Emotionally) relationship... where you hide what is true out of fear. Or you can have an alive, real relationship with intimacy, compassion and understanding.
Some people withhold from their partner and add an extra zinger -- they put on a show of pain and discomfort in order to punish them. It's an effort to communicate just how much pain they're in. But none of it's verbalized. It's a show of the pain.
When you start keeping secrets and withholding,.. when you cut off the sharing of life force between you,... you're cutting off the intimacy in your relationship. Even if you think you're protecting your partner from painful or embarrassing thoughts - it's still destroying your relationship.
Relationships require sharing... both our dreams and desires along with our doubts and fears.
What are you feeling and what needs of yours are being met or not? ...
I'm happy because my need for support in keeping our home is being met.
I'm disappointed because my need for partnership isn't being met in the way we're handling our finances.
I'm sad because my need for connection isn't being met when you're out with your friends every evening.
Another tip: when you offer your feelings and needs, it's best to follow them with a request. If you offer them without a request, your partner won't know why you're giving them the information.
Do you want to be just heard?
Do you want advice?
Do you want to come up with a strategy for meeting your needs? Why the heck are you telling me this?
Often, a comment without a request will be taken as blame... which will lead to fixing, fighting or fleeing. Don't leave your poor partner hanging.
I recommend asking, "Would you tell me what you heard me say?" (Avoid saying 'could'- it implies they aren't intelligent enough to repeat you. And avoid saying "What did I say?" because what you said and what they heard are two different things.)
And one more tip: don't think that little behaviors are enough to be warranted as 'sharing feelings and needs.' Fixing your honey a cup of coffee in the morning is very sweet, but it may not communicate your feelings of love and contentment like actually verbalizing the information. "I love you so much", PLUS the cup of coffee goes much further.
Frowning and throwing around the bed covers while you make the bed may not adequately communicate your feelings and needs, either.
Instead, say: "I'm feeling disappointed because my need for support around the house isn't being met. Would you be willing to discuss a way to help that would also meet your needs?"
There's no room for misinterpretation there.
Try it out this holiday season: make a pact with your beloved to share absolutely ALL your feelings and needs for one day - the good, the bad and the ugly. Then follow the information with a request.
Be prepared to spend some time processing and discussing those feelings and needs as they come up.
However, try to avoid getting into BLAMING and 'FAULT' behind the feelings and needs. That tends to end up in a free-for-all about evaluations and judgments - who's right and who's wrong. Try to stick with feelings, needs and requests.
Try to do this on a day when you'll have the time.
You won't want to get cut off because you have to run to pick up the kids right when you're getting to the heart of an issue that's snuck up silently between you.
You're going to want to stay and hold each other and talk it through... and feel the intimacy of clearing out all of those old, crusty feelings and unmet needs that have been clogging the flow of love.
Now that you have established an online presence, another important step required, is to promote your business online. Internet Marketing, Website or Blog Promotion, Traffic Building or whatever else you want to call it, are all but just a form of advertising. To make money, you need traffic. To get traffic, you need to promote, period.
When we promote our business online, we are in a way advertising our website, its contents, ourselves (the company/author/blogger) and our products or services. Promoting, is not an easy task, is time consuming and requires a lot of effort from our part. In certain occasions, a small financial investment may be required, although, there are numerous methods that are at our disposal which does not require any but an Investment of our time. Taking advantage of these free methods are strongly recommended as they are effective means of promoting your online business.
Following below is a list of things that we should do in order to promote our online business (not necessarily in this order):
First and foremost: Get your website Indexed on all major search engines. You can do this manually or use the several services available from free search engine site submitters. Needless to say what organic traffic can do for your online business. It is a free service and can generate massive traffic to a website. When people land on your front page, normally they already know what they are looking for. Keep your front page neat, free of errors and uncluttered. If you need to find out more about website construction, you can read an article about how to make a good home page.
Continuing on search engines, another suggestion is to get your website listed on vertical search engines. Vertical search engine are also known as specific search engines. Say, for example that you are selling "Real Estate Property" in Boston. You should list your website on specific directories that is only related to Real Estate.
Free Online Classified Ads: List whatever it is you are promoting. Use local online classified ads if your business is specific to a certain area or location. A restoration or remodelling services offered in Los angeles, is an example.
Blog: Seriously consider on having a blog (if you still don't have one). Blogging is an excellent opportunity for generating buzz to your online business. They are excellent communication platforms, educational resources and sources of entertainment. It is also a way which you can provide you potential customers to interact with you and take advantage of this to use it as a promotional tool.
Article Marketing: Writing articles and submitting them to article directories gives you exposure and popularity. There are many article directories and submission is free. Some will give you quality backlinks. Just be sure to leave your business card (URL) at the resource or bio box, to let people know where to find you. One good site to write articles and get quality backlinks is EZine.
Social Networking + Bookmarking: I am sure you are all familiar with this. My advice is to join the most popular ones (Technorati, Stumble Upon, Digg and Facebook) and choose one or two social networks and give everything you have to stand out. I do not understand why there are still many out there that underestimate the power of Social Networking.
Forums: - Participate, learn what other people are saying in your niche, help them out if you can and direct them to your website for more. If you have a blog, it is also a good source for writing your next article.
Directories: - Submit, submit, submit. Nothing more to say if you have a blog. Use blog directories as most of them are free and have been proven reliable.
Sponsorship (Contest): There are several bloggers who will recommend for you to hold contests as a means of generating traffic. If you are in to this, yes, it is definitely another way of generating traffic. If you are not, you can offer something to bloggers who like doing this. You can for example, search for sites that promotes contests and send them an email, offering an ad spot on your website or a product which you can give give for free to the winner. If they like what you have to offer, they will take it, mention you as one of their sponsors, and link to your site. This can go viral depending on how it is done.
Feed Syndication and RSS Aggregators: Feedburner, Bloglines and RSS Directories. "Publicize" for free.
Commenting: Make it a point to comment on other blogs as often as you can, specially in areas within your niche. Leave meaningful comments and people who like it (even the owner of the blog) will most likely visit your website. One important issue is when you leave your links in the commenting area. If the owner permits, leave always your name and URL. If you use blogger.com for example, do not use your Google account or openID. What is the use of getting a backlink to your profile anyway? You want that backlink (specially if it is a dofollow blog), to point at your website.
Banner Exchange: Entrecard, 125X125, Spott, Nuacco, etc., are good forms of promoting your site, specially in the beginning of your journey. Before you use this method, consider if this will not hurt your online business (depends really) as it can be seen as unprofessional. If your online business offers services such as Website Building or Graphics Design, maybe.
Twitter: And the buzz goes on. Right now, it is probably one of the best forms of promoting your online business. Follow people with the same interest as you and remember to be polite when using it. There are numerous tutorials and tips about using Twitter online. Use it.
PPC: If you have a little money to spare, PPC is one form of promotion. Adwords, Bidvertiser, etc. are examples of this. You can create your own campaign and set your budget in accordance with your objectives.
SEO: Use of several techniques to optimize your site can be a source of massive traffic. As you all know, SEO is a whole subject in itself and for this reason, I will leave this suggestion as is. Just remember that the higher you rank on search engines, the better.
These are just some suggestions on how to promote your online business. Act on it, as it is absolutely useless if no action is taken on your part. Success.

Why do most Forex Traders Fail?
1) They lack discipline ( Being unable to keep your emotions under control can result in huge losses ).
2) They over leverage ( They fail to select the proper amount of leverage ).
3) They have a poor money management strategy ( They don't keep track of their gains and losses and They don't calculate their risk ).
4) They lack education. Many beginners believe that they can open an account, throw a couple of thousands dollars at it and make a profit. But this is not the case. In order to become a successful trader, you need to educate yourself in every aspect of trading, like learning how to read charts, practicing in a demo account and many others.
5) They don't use the right tools. It is essential to follow a solid trading plan and to use a reliable Forex software.
A trading software can give you all the free time you need to devote to analysis. This way you don't have to spend the whole day monitoring the market to find changes. A good automatic Forex System can actually trade better than the majority of traders, because it's not influenced by emotions. You can also trade faster using a software. Monitoring the Market 24 hours a day is nearly impossible. By using an automated system you can minimize your losses and maximize your profit, with very little effort.

Executive Summary
Much has been both said and written about the decline in consumer spending during the recession; much less is said about the opportunity that lies in a highly disrupted marketplace. While it's true that customers are more knowledgeable (and often skeptical) than ever, this recession has done what generations of marketers have tried and failed to accomplish - opening consumers' minds to new brands and new options.
A new consumer tracking study "The Changing American Consumer" demonstrates an increasing willingness to try new products even as spending declines; it's our belief this indicates tremendous opportunity to position brands to steal considerable market share in the next year, allowing for tremendous growth once the recession ends. Using research to understanding the touchpoints that appeal to this "new consumer mindset" is vital in positioning your brand for future success.
The State of the Consumer Market
As the markets crash, people panic. We believe that panic creates an "inverse bubble" -one that has precisely the opposite effect of the recent tech or real estate bubbles. Instead of artificially driving profits and prices up, the inverse bubble artificially pushes them down. But as with any other bubble, it will "pop" -and how your brand is positioned when it bursts is vital. A few questions every company needs to ask themselves:
• Did reactive pricing decisions damage the brand?
• Will you have taken advantage of disrupted purchase behaviors to win new customers?
• Do you understand what changes are temporary, and which are permanent?
• How are customer mindsets continuing to evolve?
The Opportunity: don't believe an opportunity exists during these dark economic times? A few data points should convince you:
• People Are Reconsidering: Nearly half (48%) of Americans report considering brands they haven't considered before.
• People Are Noticing: 44% of Americans report paying more attention to advertisements than they used to.
• People's Mindsets Are Changing: While eventually the recession will end and purchase attitudes will settle, some attitudes may stay; 56% of Americans see the recession as an opportunity to start living a less materialistic life.
Necessity of Market Research
New "Brand Bonding"
For many brands, this is a chance of a lifetime to grab market share - media is cheap and minds are open. In order to ensure that you are part of this new "brand bonding," market research is needed to understand precisely how the new consumer mindsets affect your brand and your category specifically, and the new communications strategy you'll need to reach them. While price is important, it doesn't -and can't -define most brands over the long term.
Relevant Studies to Consider
While the best use of research and correct methodology is highly individualized for each brand, a few studies every marketer should consider:
• Key Assumptions and Mindset Test: Every brand works off key internal assumptions about your customer. Many of those no longer hold true. Are the attributes you base your communications on still relevant? Is a different approach to similar services needed?
• Concept Tests: As more people consider your brand, it's crucial to understand how new products and services could make your brand appealing to a broader audience. What can be developed to grab as much new share as possible without alienating core consumers?
• Communications Testing: With people paying more attention than ever to communications and media available at discounted rates, now is the time to test and then invest. Whether conducting ad or communications testing, developing new stated claims or other stats that can be pitched to the media, or coming up with the precise positioning and words that appeal to a wider audience, research is a fundamental building block that ensures your media spend will be effective.
• Ethnographies and Qualitative Deep Dives: Mini ethnographies or qualitative deep dives are an excellent way to move beyond the functional and uncover emotional touchpoints that can set your brand apart. How do consumers talk about and think about your brand? How has this changed? What needs are going unmet and how can your brand capitalize on this?
