You may find many people who will say there is no job that is safe during a recession. They may be right, however there are many jobs that tend to remain in demand or at lease secure even when the economy takes a turn for the worse. Pharmacy Technician- For this position most employees offer in house or on the job training, however there may be some employee who require formal certification. The medicine business is actually seeing an increase in activity due to the increase of baby boomer's entering retirement years and health issues on the rise. The normal demand in the pharmaceutical field has remained steady so the increase of business with the influx of baby boomer's is keeping this industry busy.
Auto Mechanic- As long as there are automobiles on the road there will be a need for qualified people to fix them when they are in need of repair. The current economy may actually benefit the auto repair industry as people who previously traded in used cars for the newer model are avoiding new car payments and repairing the cars they are currently driving.
Health Care- The health care industry is always looking for qualified candidates to fill the ever increasings positions available in medical and dental offices. If you are looking for a job that offers benefits and a decent introductory salary that doesn't require years of education, check into the medical field to see if there is a job that is right for you.
Child Care- As the need for dual income families increases there will also always be a need for qualified people to watch children while the parents are working. This job may not require formal training for most candidates but their should be a genuine interest in children before applying for the job. Background checks should be performed on any people applying for a job which will put them in contact with children. If you have a lot of patience and enjoy working with children the child care industry can be very rewarding.
Public Service Jobs- Regardless of the state of the economy there will always be a need for firemen, policemen and certain other government officials. These jobs may not be as easy to come but they are good jobs that pay well if you can find yourself securing the position.
